Overall objective of the project
The project BIOM-ALBA intends to contribute, coherently with the relative European policy, to the pursuit of the following general objective: support a correct sustainable development policy in the Adriatic Ionian countries, with particular reference to the aspects related to energy needs, health, environmental protection, awareness of the population, public administration and commercial enterprises. Two elements with particular importance for the pursuit of this objective are related to the reduction of the dependency from the import of non renewable energy sources through the increasing role of endogenous energy sources and the minimization of the environmental impact by using controlled processes of combustion and treatment of the effluents, particularly the solid and gaseous ones.
Specific objectives of the project
The specific objectives can be synthesized in the following points:- Promotion of inter - institutional collaboration; - Capacity building and know – how exchange; - Curricula development (with the aim to strengthen the research and education on subjects connected to biomass in the Agricultural University of Tirana where no relevant experiences on the subject are yet present). - Demonstration of the technical feasibility and the economic convenience to realize in the Country integrated energy systems based on the extensive use of local biomass source. - Analysis of agro-energetic supply chain. - Analysis of the feasibility in Albanian territory. - Promotion and strengthen of exchanges between the two involved realities and dissemination of the results of the project at the university, institution and business level.
